Making Tax Digital is a government initiative that will transform the current tax system. By 2020, it is proposed that all businesses will be required to manage their tax affairs digitally through an online accounting software solution, sending accounting information to HMRC on a quarterly or monthly basis.
Making Tax Digital, or MTD, is the UK's biggest tax shake-up in a generation requiring all businesses to manage their tax affairs and financial administration in a digital format.
MTD is being introduced in stages. Annual taxable turnover will determine when a business needs to start taking part, but for VAT registered businesses, the start date is 1st April 2019. From this point onwards, businesses who are VAT registered must keep a digital record of their VAT related finances in MTD compliant software.
MTD will bring about many challenges; increased costs and potentially more financial administrative burden to UK businesses.
This is a free event for BITA members, non-members will have to pay £10
